Qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in the Civil Construction
• Must have prior experience digging around existing underground utilities
• Class 5 driver's license
• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
• Knowledge of Sewer/Storm/Water Works
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
• Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques
• Ability to operate Excavators, Backhoes, Dozers, Skid Steers, and other heavy equipment
• Machine GPS experience considered an asset
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong work ethic

• Identifying potential cost savings and streamlined field methodologies.
• Ensuring project deliverables adhere to the drawings and specifications.
• Maintaining documentation as per site specific system..
• Maintaining construction schedule of project.
• Tracking costs associated with the work, review with project budget.

• All aspects of safety on site including documentation and enforcement

Requirements:

• 5+ experience in civil construction projects
• Previous field experience in infrastructure projects including Water, Sanitary, Sewer, Road Building, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills

• Ability to communicate and report effectively

Pipe Layers play a crucial role in the successful completion of most projects undertaken by IWC Excavation. The successful candidates will be involved in every phase of the construction process and will be responsible for such things as pipe-laying, laser set up, grade monitoring and conformance, small tool operation, site preparation, and testing of the installed pipe.

• Previous pipe-laying and civil construction experience is required
• Ability to properly read and understand blueprints.
• Full understanding of Water/Sanitary/Storm Main Installations
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Active listening skills.
• Ability to work as a team as well as with little supervision.
